About This Listing

(USED) The luthiery boom of the last 10-15 years has produced dozens of world-class luthiers and thousands of spectacular guitars. With the advent of the internet and online forums, not to mention more luthiery schools and the community's willingness to share information, many of the "secrets" to making a great sounding instrument have been unlocked, and we, the players, are seeing the benefits.

Oriskany Guitars were built by Johanna Mutti and Curtis Rockwell, graduates of the Roberto Venn School of Luthiery and, from the look and sound of this guitar, quite capable craftspersons. This model is approximately L-00 size, with a 15" lower bout and 25" (short) scale length. This guitar has many wonderful fine details, big and small, starting with the impeccable tonewood selection... here we have a creamy, tight-grained Engelmann spruce top and gorgeous Bubinga back and sides, a great combination that produces a lush guitar with lots of volume, but also a sound with a bit of a softer edge. The neck is laminated 5-piece, and the bridge, fingerboard and headcap all ebony. They chose our favorite closed-gear tuners, the super-smooth Gotoh 510s, and tied the whole presentation together quite elegantly with ebony binding, red fiber purfling accents and a dark abalone rosette. The mermaid inlay on the peghead is the lovely cherry on this beautiful cake.

The neck has an open-pore oil finish for a very organic look and feel. The high gloss finish on the body of the guitar is of a very high standard. Condition of the instrument is excellent, with no dings, cracks or scratches, and nary a bit of fret wear. Includes original Cedar Creek hardshell case.

A unique instrument in our store, and one that we're very pleased to present to you!
