Small solid state amplifier with volume and tone control. This thing makes a great overdrive box whether through the small internal speaker or through the external speaker jack into a larger cab. This one is a little noisy in the preamp. It's really noticeable when you're slamming the amp and using it for distortion, but is noticeable with quieter playing. Great build quality and a very cool little amp.
