cool 1980s Kramer I picked up in a Guitar Center in 2017.
I've added a lot of VHS customization to the guitar which is included, but if don't want that stuff, I have no problem removing it. None of the customization has any effect on the playability. Just to add 'aesthetic'
The guitar when I purchased it, did not come with a tremolo arm or a backplate. I found a gold trem-arm that fits for it, and I've made my own backplate. The backplate is made out of thick paper, and screwed with normal backplate screws. If you don't want any of the customization stuff, the guitar will sell without the backplate.
The VHS reel is slipped under the top screw for the pickguard and is held in place by the screw. I hole-punched the reel and slid it underneath. The movie is The Santa Claus part 2, Starring Tim Allen. I put some stickers that come with blank VHS tapes turning the 'tone' knobs into 'hi-fi' knobs. I've also taped a 'maxwell videocassette' sticker on the trem arm, as well as a sticker that says 'hgx-gold'. (to give reason to the gold trem-arm not matching the chrome hardware) On the backplate, I made up some nonsense that sounds cool, naming it the 'HGX-GOLD dual track lofi-hifi converter'. I also mistakenly said it has a rosewood neck; the neck is maple and the fingerboard is rosewood.
Overall, it's an alright guitar. The tuning stability has room for improvement, and the neck is still a little bowed despite my best efforts at adjusting the truss rod accordingly. I have filed the frets recently and gave it a new set of D'addario XT 9-46's. Electronics are in great condition.
Here's a review for Santa Claus Part 2, if you are interested.
In this sequel to The Santa Clause, Santa, played by Tim Allen, must find a Mrs. Claus by Christmas or he will stop being Santa. There is also a plot about his son Charlie being on the naughty list and the replacement Santa causing havoc at the North Pole. I like seeing the expansion of the lore from the first movie, especially the idea of the Council of Legendary Figures. But the three main plots were too much to handle as none of them have a satisfying ending. If they dropped one of them and expanded the other two this movie would have been better. As is, it is a decent sequel and may entertain those who really enjoyed the first movie.
