Rickenbacker A-22 Electro Hawaiian Guitar commonly known as the Frying Pan model. Serial number 0181. The A-22 was the first electric Hawaiian style production lap steel guitar. They were made in short scale (22 1/2") and later long scale (25 1/2") in both 6 and 7 string versions. The 6-string short scale that we have here was the most commonly available. This one has recently been serviced. The pickup was rewound, and the magnet recharged at Lollar in the Seattle area. Other than that, the instrument is completely original and includes the original purple lined hard shell case with three working latches and a replacement handle. Serial number 0181.
It looks like there were 1136 six string units produced between 1933 and 1935, 140 seven strings and 12 violins. Does anybody know that Rickenbacker made violins?
