About This Listing

Epiphone E360TD-C12 Riviera Model 12 String Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1967), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 064579, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case. The Epiphone Riviera C-12 string may be one of the less well remembered electric 12's of the 1960's, but is an excellent design and one of the better instruments of its kind. Generally it is the same as the more common 6-string Riviera, with only a non-vibrato 12-string tailpiece and the longer headstock to distinguish it. This model was introduced in late 1965 as the 12-string craze gripped the guitar world, shipped in limited numbers through 1970. The Epiphone mini-humbucking pickups are quite well suited to a 12-string format, and compared to the similar Gibson ES-335/12, this guitar is crisper and clearer-toned, while still being capable of cranking up to breakup level if desired. This is a cool and very useful electric 12, the favorite of at least one player -- Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys used a sunburst example of the Rivera 12 just like this for many years from the later 1960's well into the 70's; at some point it was even re-necked with a Gibson headstock, but its distinctive sonic character remained.Overall length is 44 1/2 in. (113 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). This guitar is very clean overall with hardly any checking to the finish and only minimal wear, mostly dings to the front and back edges of the headstock and a few random dinks and dents overall. There are some small chips around the base of the jack and on the edge of the bass side F-hole. The back of the neck has a few small dings and a deeper compression mark behind the 12th fret. The hardware is all original; there is no epsilon "E" on the pickguard but no sign it was ever there to begin with. The original frets and fingerboard have very little wear. Tis is a very good player and great sounding electric 12-string, housed in a more modern HSC. Overall Excellent Condition.
