This 1996 USA-made Hamer is an impressively well built guitar that takes a straightforward approach to a vintage-flavored modern design. Tonewise, it belongs with the best vintage/modern American designs out there. It's that classic dual humbucker/mahogany/set neck sound, with a semi hollow body for a little added depth. It can do warm and creamy or razor sharp and cutting with equal ease. Light gain makes it purr, especially in the middle of the neck, and heavy distortion will turn it into a snarling rock machine. The neck is comfortable and a touch on the wide side, perfect for expressive bends in the mid to upper register. High quality hardware and exacting build quality make this axe feel like it'll be playing and sounding great for decades to come.

This 1996 Hammer USA Artist sports an arched flamed maple top over a semi-hollow piece of mahogany. The mahogany neck has a vintage carve and a rosewood fretboard with 22 frets and a 14.5" radius. The flat radius on the vintage-inspired neck provides the best of both worlds - soulful bends are quite easy. Schaller tuners, and a TonePros bridge keep everything locked down. This is a hidden gem of the classic American mahogany/humbucker world, and it's going for about a third of what similar designs will run you.
