1960s Hofner Solidbody 3-pickup Electric Guitar
This is a nice playing guitar, surprisingly excellent tone -- original except for one changed knob (has a similar color Strat knob installed). Great neck, with a slab rosewood fretboard.
A very interesting rare Hofner model. Built circa 1969+ per the Type 513 (notched blade) pickups. They are single coils and contain two ceramic magnets each with more tonality than the ‘staple’ humbuckers, and seem a little better suited for this 170 design.
It's definitely a German made product (see the headstock photo). More likely from the Euro-US distribution of Hofner, than the Selmer of UK distribution. As noted - most of the early to mid ‘60s Hofners used humbuckers designed primarily for the company’s hollow bodies. They are best sounding on those. These give clearer and more defined tones from the single coil blade types.
An uncommon Hofner solid guitar.
This guitar comes in a chipboard case.
