First introduced by the Dopera Brothers in 1958, their Zorko line of electric upright basses and amplifiers revolutionized the instrument, so much that they sold the line to Ampeg in 1962. This early example, serial number 015, is a pre-Ampeg example, and has the volume knob in the "belly button" position (first generation design), and has an organish colored double cut contoured fiberglass body; early magnetic pickup system beneath bridge (coupled with modern pickup for giggability). The maple neck has a 40" scale length ebony fingerboard with small pegbox, and Zorko plaque on face; serial number stamped on back of pegbox.
