- Tuning is almost identical to a guitar except it starts with the B strings and only has 5 courses
- B2 B3, E4 E3, A3 A3, G4 G4
- This is the shape of the grandfather to what is now the national instrument of Puerto Rico, the Cuatro Puertorriquena. The old version only had 4 strings so this version is a hybrid of old and new, old shape, new strings configuration.
