Plays Like a Dream
The Selmer, Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone needs no introduction. Arguably the best saxophone ever made! Offered is a beautiful example of an early period 5 digit number Mark VI tenor.
If you've always wanted a Mark VI, consider this one! It plays like a dream with an immediate response and the unmistakable color and nuance which makes Mark VI's the most sought after horns in history.
This Paris Mark VI serial number 69XXX was made in 1957. Looks like a professional in shop relacquer with about 95% of the lacquer intact. Mechanically the horn is in excellent condition and only has some minor ripples due to previous ding repairs. The original pearls are in excellent condition. It appears to be all original with no previous bad repairs or tool marks. A few minor dings on the body and a couple barely visible on the neck (see photos). All in all it's mechanically one of the best Mark VI's we've had in the store.
We just cleaned and adjusted the horn and since the pads were in such good condition there was no need for an overhaul.
The original case is included along with a plug, cleaning swab, cork grease and neck strap.
The tone and intonation are incredible. It plays with a sweetness yet rich palette of color from dark to bright. Don't miss out on this super rare find.
