10 string Smith Melobar manufactured in 1988. These were designed to be easy for beginners to play without all of the complicated mechanisms of a lap steel. This is one of 12 of this style made so it is very rare . Body is vinyl covered foam in an explorer shape. The neck has a floating fret guide and the pick ups are Bill Lawrence . This one was purchased from Walt Smiths son Ted, and has been stored in a collection with little to no use. It is in VGC overall other than a little nick at the headstock, and works as it should . It needs new strings due to age but some players prefer just 6 strings which I can oblige, or leave it up to the buyer to install. Own a rare piece of music history.
