This amplifier is in very good condition considering its age. There are some marks on the front lower left that were present when I acquired it. These are not very noticeable but I want to make sure that this is known and can be seen on pictures 4 and 6. Aside from that it is free from damage. It is a twin power supply amplifier and has two large transformers and two separate heat sinks for the eight (8) output transistors. There is a selector knob on the upper right side that allows for the usage of a wide range of turntable cartridges and and selector for either Moving Coil or Moving Magnet cartridge. Very nice to have such control to get the most out of your turntable. A complete recap was just completed using Nichicon and Elna electrolytic capacitors and Wima film capacitors where applicable. The filter capacitors are the original capacitors and were not replaced as they measured just as good as new. The regulated power supply was rebuilt and new transistors replaced the still working but tired transistors. The 4 trimmer resistors for the DC Offset and Idle Current were replaced with Bourns multiturn units. DC Offset and Idle current was then set to factory specifications. The controls have been cleaned and lubricated. The amplifier was cleaned inside and out so it is free of any smoke or pets odors. I have been using this amplifier on a daily basis for the past 3 weeks to burn in the new capacitors and to identify any anomalies following the rebuild. This amplifier runs on the warm side as it operates like a class A amp in that the transistors are BIASED on at 50 mA. The top is open to facilitate air flow and the sides are vented as well. I recommend that nothing should ever be placed on the top of the amplifier as this would surely cause the unit to overheat and that would be very bad.
I found the sound to be very full, clean and precise. The sounds of the kick drums were very pronounced. The twin power supplies never struggled to keep up with the demand that I placed on it. I ran two sets of speakers(Klipsch KG5.5 and KLH Reference CL-4 speakers) to give it a good work out. The 100 watts was more than enough to push these four speakers. I was impressed with the great sound of this amp and never found it to be tiring. I have placed the sales flyer from Harman Kardon in the photos that details the finer points of this amplifier. This is a powerful amplifier beyond it's rated output of 100 watts.
Upon completion of the sale I will pack this amplifier so that it can safely be shipped and arrive in the same condition. I double box my amplifiers as an extra precaution. I know how much packages are abused during shipment from many years working in the IT community. If you have any questions please ask and I will be happy to answer. Thank you for taking the time to view this amplifier and read this.
