The mythical Image Custom.
Rarely seen, because they're great and nobody is letting theirs go.
I know I won't sell for this price, I guess I'm not ready to let go, and this is where I might actually let it go. I figured I'd keep it posted for reference, so people can be informed when another one pops up. Stay tuned and it might drop one day or drop a note with an offer or questions.
Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, so it's staying in the US. Unless you travel with it.
I'm the original owner. Serial number dates it to September 14, 1989. They were made from 1988-1991 (some say '89 - '94; maybe that depends on which country).
Mahogany body and one-piece neck.
25" scale, 13.75" radius.
Carved Flamed Maple top slab.
Natural Binding showing the maple in natural color.
Abalone fretboard and headstock inlays. When abalone was still abalone.
The tuners are great and self-locking. (Gotoh Magnum Lok?)
The trem has an adjustable tremlock for string changes or drop tunings. Still have the trem bar. Barely used the bar.
100% original. Such a quality build. I'd put it right up there with my PRS.
They weren't cheap either. I think they listed around $1,600 back then. I just remember dropping quite a bit of cash, but had to have it as soon as I saw it at the end of the rack in the shop.
Fret indicator lights work perfectly.
Active circuit to boost mids. So many different tones available with all of the toggles - 3 way pickup, active/passive, bridge and neck humbucker/coil tap for each. Some call it 'Les Paul Killer', it can definitely hang with my LPs.
Spent the last 20+ years in its case. Was perfectly in tune when I took it out recently.
Played at home only, but back then I didn't regularly wipe after playing, hence the wear on the bridge plating as shown in pics.
Some swirl and light surface scratches that can be polished out with Meguiar's Mirror Glaze if desired. Only visible against the light. Looks more dramatic in the pics, but wanted to make sure I show it.
Has one small ding on the top binding, but not chipped or cracked. Another area has a surface bump as pictured.
Frets look good, but you can feel some wear on the lower frets when all strings are off. Not affecting playability or creating any buzz, except for the 10th fret on the g string. It has only about half the sustain it should. Was going to get a fret dress but my tech recommended not yet. To wait until there is buzz, especially when bending. Fret ends are immaculate. Very comfortable to play.
Many others would list as 'excellent', but per Reverb guidelines it's 'very good' due to the two ding areas pictured, the trem finish wear and the minor swirls.
Comes with original hardshell case, tremolo arm, and 'tooling'. Missing two of the four screws for the battery compartment. I had them out to make battery changes quicker. I might find them one day and would ship them then.
It's sitting in it's case and is played occasionally. Since I am not really expecting it to sell, please be aware that it could take me a couple of days to grab shipping cartons, fill, etc.
