About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1987 Kramer Focus 1000 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this Kramer is the definition of a shred-ready superstrat, sporting a genuine Floyd Rose tremolo and single humbucker in the bridge position. The pickup is bright and bold, with plenty of midrange cut and powerful low end, metering at 9.2k ohms. Naturally, it takes gain exceptionally well, delivering huge crunchy chords for monster rhythm and white-hot melodic leads. This Kramer weighs 8lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 16” radius and retains the stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets are in great shape, retaining their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1.650” in width. The headstock sports a transitional shape, in between the classic "banana" of the early ‘80s and the pointier shapes that would soon follow. The gold block KRAMER logo is extremely clean, and the back of the headstock has the "Made in Japan" stamp, along with clean chrome tuning machines.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the humbucker governed by a singular Volume knob. The original genuine Floyd Rose tremolo functions smoothly, ideal for sharp flutters and deep dives.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish includes a handful of pinhead-sized dings on the body, largely concentrated on the lower bout and where the forearm crosses the top. There's some requisite pick scuffing on the treble side of the strum path and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a few shallow nicks on the bass-side shoulder that have no impact on playability.

A Stagg brand padded gigbag is included.
