This Yamaha APX-4A is a great piece from Yamaha's acclaimed APX series. It was manufactured in the early 1990's (1992-1994) and I would rate it as somewhere between Excellent and Very Good condition.

Designed with the performing musician in mind, the APX-4A is lightweight with a bright, crisp tone. It has an active pickup, 3 band EQ with AMF (adjustable mid-range frequency), volume, battery light, mute. The slimline design and under-bridge pickup mean that this guitar will absolutely not feed back, while retaining a loud clear sound when played acoustically.

This one is a beautiful "violin sunburst" and is in near flawless condition. There is a very small ding below the bridge and there are two very small scrapes next to the sound hole. Both are pictured and are imperceptible from a few feet away. The neck is straight and true and there is very little feet wear. All electronics work as they should and the guitar was recently professionally set up. Comes with original hard shell case.

Note, The APX-4A is a full-size guitar and should not be confused with the 3/4 size APX-T2 "travel guitar".

4.3 aggregate Harmony Central review score

"Lovely when thru a P.A. No feedback problems ever. Chrystal clear - high ringing tone."

From Yamaha:
Take the stage by storm
As an electric guitarist in the mid 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options for you that really worked - and certainly nothing that was designed with you in mind. After talking to guitarists playing gigs of all sizes about what they really needed for a stage acoustic, Yamaha decided to make the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume – problem free. And so APX was born – designed to meet the tonal needs of both the guitarist and the band as a whole. No more howling feedback, misplaced mics or the dreaded extended sound check….

And being designed for electric guitarists, it wasn’t just the sound that was the focus on the APX - every element was tweaked to be an easy switch on-stage, from the stylish finishes to the cutaway body and the slim, electric-guitar style neck.
In any electro-acoustic, the pickup is at the heart of the sound. The first APX guitars were loaded with basic undersaddle piezo pickups and over time, as new pickup technologies became available, APX has featured a variety of systems suited to different playing styles and tonal requirements.
