Portable Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphones, with two sets of replacement ear pads
Very sensitive and easy to drive for planar magnetics, I have never needed a DAC.
These Headphones are well reviewed by Bob Katz, you can read his review on Stereophile, it's Katz's corner episode 10.
They function perfectly, but the faux leather finish is degrading on the ear pads and headband, so I have included two extra sets of earpads that I bought because faux leather tends to do this, as it has done with my audio technica m50x headphones as well. You can find products to wrap the headband, or you can do it yourself if you're handy with a sewing machine. I dropped the price after realizing it was a bit unrealistic considering the wear on the headphones. My loss, your gain!
I bought these for mixing when I was exclusively mixing with closed back headphones, but I just bought a pair of open back headphones (Neumann NDH 30), so I have to sell some things to afford them. These have always been treated well, despite the degrading faux leather, and you can no longer find them, as the company has gone under and is no longer making them. These are good planar magnetics at an affordable price.
