About This Listing

For sale is this 1960 Custom Shop Fender Stratocaster.

See below for the video demo! I took it home and made it in my messy office through my iPhone, but it will give you a general idea of the tone and playability.

It was manufactured at the very tail end of the "Cunetto era," as fender was transitioning to a different series. The neck dates to March 3, 1999. Please note: this is not a Cunetto relic, but a 1960 NOS reissue that is one of the earliest guitars in the Time Machine series.  The serial number is R6897.

It does, however, have the "impressed logo" that is unique to this era of guitars, which I have not seen on other NOS models, which is makes it a little unique in my opinion (see pictures).

The guitar is in very good players condition. I am going to be very picky in my description for the buyer's sake.  I seek to describe my items as accurately as possible, as I very much desire to ensure you are happy with your order, and preserve my perfect feedback rating.

There is only a light trace of fret wear on the first few frets. Otherwise, they are in fantastic shape. As you can see from the pictures, the body looks great as far as it's visual presentation goes. It does have a few dings around the edges, especially on the bottom side near the input jack.  However, they do give the appearance of a light natural relic. I initially thought this was a Fender-relied guitar when I first saw it.  Also, you can see a little checking near the back plate, which is common with guitars that need the neck removed to adjust the truss rod.  There are also a little finish checking on the headstock near the nut.  There's a very minor chip to the bottom edge of pick guard, near the screw between the neck and middle pick ups. but it is hardly noticeable.  Finally, the tuner for the high E-string can be a little finicky, but it is in working order and holds its tune just fine.

This strat is fairly light, with medium 1960s oval C-shaped neck.  The truss rod turns as it should, the neck is straight, and it plays wonderfully.  The neck has a very tight fit to the pocket, which maximizes tone.  All the strings ring out clearly, and the guitar is a joy to play.

It comes with a really cool white fender case with black leather on the edges, which is correct for this year of guitar. The case has a little wear and tear, and the white tolex is very unforgiving in terms of blemishes. But as you can see, it has held up decently over the years.

The guitar comes with a replacement certificate authenticity from Fender.  Fender's policy allows for the obtainment of replacement COA's, provided the guitar is checked out as all original by an authorized dealer. I have confirmed this with Fender.  The date on the COA is thus the date the replacement COA was ordered and authorized, not the date the guitar was made. Again, call Fender consumer relations if you have questions or doubts about this.
