This is a vintage 1961 Gibson SG Special Body/Neck. 1961 was the very first year of the Gibson SG! Back then, Gibson guitars like this one were made of nice old-growth Honduran Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood: tone woods that you just cannot get anymore, as it's all been cut down.

This guitar has had the finish removed. It is very smooth and pretty much ready or close to ready to be painted. As you can see, any areas that needed attention were filled such as dings, flaws, etc. It appears that at one time there may have been a different pickup in the bridge position that was a little larger. This has been filled to the original size as seen in the pictures.

The neck is typical Early 1960s thin profile. The neck is very straight and the truss rod works properly

The width of the neck at the nut is 1 11/16 inches.

The guitar is lightweight at well under 7 pounds. Very acoustically resonant when tapped.

I bought this to restore it with a custom paint job and Kinman P90's, but I got a new job and don't think I'll ever have time. Selling at a small loss already. Look at all pictures. Ask any and all questions before buying or making an offer. Sold as is with no returns. Packed very securely for shipping.
