Hey All, I've got a 3 Monkeys Orangutan head for sale if anyone wants to buy it. In a perfect world I'd keep it, but it's not quite what I'm looking for in a performance amp these days (can TOO versatile be a bad thing?) and I can only really afford one really good amp, not several. This amp has all the tones I could want (plus it takes to pedals like a fat kid to a pizza buffet..) but the tones exist in their own worlds on this amp and are hard enough to switch through on stage to where it makes me need to change up my amp for something simpler. The wattage though is perfect for almost any situation, 30 watts out of 4 6v6's (JJ's are stock..) is really a nice set-up. This is Orangutan #41 which, according to Greg @ 3 Monkeys puts this amps birthday at January 2009. They started making these in January of 2008, so this from the first year of production.
The reverb tank has been replaced, with the factory approved replacement (mojotone) since the original one broke.
The pre-amp tubes have been changed by me to some premium N.O.S glass in order to maximize all the tones available. Telefunken ECC81/12AT7 in V1, unlabeled ECC83/12AX7 in V2, and a Sylvania 12AX7 in V3. This allows for the full range of tones from rich crystal cleans in 1st voice position, to serious rawk in positions 3 and 4.
Also included are the Bass Lift/Solo Boost footswitch and a genuine 3 Monkeys leather slip cover for the Orangutan Head.
This is a serious amp, and is a Swiss-Army Knife for almost any type of session, not to mention being a great amp for a studio to own. I have a video of this amp being reviewed on Youtube. It is the EXACT amp for sale.
