A really wonderful 5.5x14" Slingerland Radio King snare dating to the early 1960s (pre-serial badge). Solid maple shell, eight lugs, three-point strainer, original snare wires, internal muffler and 'stick saver' hoops.
The drum has a notable factory defect, which is that the throw off and butt plate were installed significantly off-center of their respective panel. Because of this the snare wires pinch up against one side of the snare gates on the bottom hoop and have over time become a bit bent.
All that said, the defect seems to be largely cosmetic and doesn't impact the functionality of the strainer or the playability of the drum. In fact, this snare happens to sound incredible. It's dark and soft and sensitive, and would thrive in a studio situation or a live context where volume and projection are secondary to tone and sensitivity. Check out the sound file!
