Today I'm selling a 2008 Left-Handed Rickenbacker 4003FL fretless bass, with the original hardshell case. I bought this back in 2008, but was unable to really use it much, as I'm a singer (tribute musician, actually), so I'm always having to sing. As a result of never being able to look at the neck (and "check" my fingering), I was never able to use this instrument "live," so it's still in the same shape it was when I bought it. I'm also including the original tools, cheesecloth rag & booklet that RIC sent me when I purchased it.
As to this particular item, as you can see, it's pretty special: it was made for me by Grover Jackson (when he was freelancing for RIC), and he made special, light body "wings" that are made of a gorgeous flame maple, and the neck is made of the same material. Even the walnut on the center-strip & the rosewood on the fretboard is beautifully-figured (as you can see). The wood Grover chose was also fairly light, and the bass comes in at a very manageable 8.5 lbs. It's a joy to play - the strings really "burr" when you play it - and it's strung with Pyramid black nylon strings in order to avoid damaging the finish on the fretboard. (I've listed the Rickenbacker specs below, just in case you need them.)
As for price, I'm asking for what this item (which has been discontinued by RIC, I've been told) would cost to purchase today. I'm leaving the "Best Offer" tab on this auction just in case you'd like to submit your own bids. (But please understand: I can only sell this item for a price that's fair to me, too.)
