Overview

The Rickenbacker 4000 was the first production bass made by the company. With only a small batch made in the mid-1950s, the model took off in 1958 with a Walnut neck (instead of the original Mahogany) and then a Maple/Walnut neck in 1960. Eventually in '64 the horseshoe pickup was replaced with a single coil.

Years of Production: ca. 1955 - 1985
