Vintage 1964 Teisco Del Rey VN-2 Electric Baritone Guitar in Excellent all original condition, made in Japan only in 1964!

Very cool Rare Vintage 1964 Teisco Del Rey VN-2 Electric Baritone Guitar in excellent all original condition, made in Japan only in 1964. This is a rare baritone model with a full 26-3/4" scale length. It features a solid mahogany body and neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard, Jazzmaster style roller volume controls for each pickup and 3 rocker switches for selecting pickups and tone control, all set into big metal and chrome panels. The tone switch is labeled “R” and “S” for Rhythm and Solo, with the Solo function giving more highs and the Rhythm function giving a fatter, bassier tone. All of the electronics are in excellent working condition with no noisy pots or intermittent issues. These fat sounding single coil pickups were rumored to have been used by Hound Dog Taylor and have a certain unmistakable growl, similar to the Ry Cooder gold foil pickups, but cleaner and rounder sounding. This Teisco model came in a variety of brand names, including Teisco, Lindell, Guyatone, Kawai, Tulio, Demian, Audition, St. George and Ibanez. This guitar has incredible mojo and more chrome than a ’59 Buick. The original input jack was cutting out, so it was replaced with a new Switchcraft jack and works great now. Happy to include the original semi-working “Japan” labeled jack, if you remind me. It has been cleaned up and restrung with Ernie Ball 11-54 Beefy Slinkys to work well with open and drop tunings, typically tuned anywhere from a half step down to a couple steps down from a standard guitar. There is pitting on some of the metal and signs of rust on the tuners and truss rod cover. The metal panels on the guitar are all in excellent shape. The original whammy bar is wonky, but complete. There are plenty of scratches and dings all over the guitar with some damage to the tip of the headstock, which has been kind of touched up. The neck is straight and it has an adjustable truss rod, with plenty of room on the bridge to adjust in either direction to suit your playing style and/or tuning preference. This is an incredibly cool vintage baritone guitar in wonderful all original condition. I'll throw in a generic soft shell case if I have something long enough, might have to be a bass case. Be sure to check out my other guitars for sale and thanks for looking!
