Viewing / Demo is highly recommended as i can't fit all the details in here, but this is the story :
A LOT of work has gone into making this console awesome :
Every single electrolytic capacitor has been replaced. (some with higher values - as detailed on the schematics)
Every switch has been replaced. (old ALPS switches can not be cleaned)
All patchbay cards have been cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and then solder re-flowed. - (with lead solder, as the original)
All the internal ribbon cables have been replaced, with new connectors where required.
Every circuit has been fully tested and analysed with a transfer function to verify flat frequency response. (see pic of input to mix buss freq and phase response)
Custom built VU meter attenuator to work with a variety of Digital dBfs references.
Customised Patchbay (see below)
Customised Metering (see below)
You simply will not find a 6000 of this spec, in better condition. Check out what gearslutz people say about this console. Also Jim Williams is a guru who rates these.
I have not modified the circuits in any way except some higher rated nichicon 105 degree caps - the desk runs on TL072 op amps as per the original design.
The spec is :
24 x Mono Inputs (mic pre's or line inputs)
4 x Stereo line Inputs
8 x mono "fx return" inputs (two modules of four inputs each)
24 x Sub Group (which can also act as line inputs or tape returns at the same time)
stereo master buss
6 x aux busses
I have modified the patchbay and normalling, for a modern computer based studio :
24 x direct outputs (from channels 1-24) normalled to tape sends
24 x tape returns normalled to line inputs 1-24 and via the patch bay to the stereo modules.
32 x meters sourced from channels (instead of groups) including stereo input metering
Using batam patch cables, you can re-configure routing as required, breaking the half normalled connections.
This console is easy to work on if you have the right tools, the PCB's are double sided with through hole components. see the picture of my soldering work - it is very clean and you would be hard pushed to tell it is not factory. All the new Caps are Nichicon 105Degree rated, very good quality... Switches are replaced with Alps (as used in the original desk)
This console is totally unique, boasting a simple workflow and a great way to sum lots of channels (including analog outboard). The preamps are great for tracking, I used it a lot for drums.
As always, please contact me with any questions or to arrange a viewing / demo.
It breaks my heart a little after putting so much effort into this, but i would love for it to go to a good home where great music can be produced using this lovely vintage desk.
Thanks for looking... Local pickup only, i'm in SE London.
I also have an additional 12 x mono mic input strips and 4 stereo modules plus some meters etc. to be listed seperatley.
