Olds Special L-5 Bb cornet. Serial 127342. All valves, pistons, water keys and slides work as they should. New water key corks, and hand lapped valves. Comes with nice leather case and Olds 3C mouthpiece.
This cornet is dated 1954 - during the golden era of manufacturing at the LA Olds factory. It features a .468" bore, standard cornet wrap, and a beautiful 2-piece bell made of yellow brass. This cornet plays with a dark, rich sound, and would be a great choice for classical solo, brass band, or jazz solo playing. Lacquer is starting to wear on the cornet mainly on the left side and the bell. The valves are in great shape and are fast, smooth, and have great compression.
