Offbeat Guitars "Jacqueline" a/k/a "Jax" 32" Scale Bass in Cherry Bomb Eclipse on Lightly Distressed/Textured Northern White Pine featuring a Warmoth Medium Scale Roasted Maple Neck, EMG Active Pickups, Schaller BM Light Tuners, Kluson High Mass Bridge, DR Hi-Beam Strings, and Aged Hardware.

I find it interesting that medium scales aren't more popular than they are. As someone who played mostly 34" scale basses for 25 years and switched to predominately short scales for the last 15 years, I feel like it's kind of the "Goldilocks" of scale lengths. It doesn't feel like a huge change like going from a 34" scale to a 30" scale, but you play this one all night instead of a 9.5+ lb. Jazz bass, and you'll have a lot more energy at the end of the gig to wrestle that SVT back into your vehicle. You might even have enough energy to help the drummer load their kit into their vehicle. (I am so kidding about that.)

The bass body is made from knotty and lightly distressed/textured Northern White Pine with a "Cherry Bomb Eclipse" dyed finish. The pickups and electronics are our signature EMG OBG-1 set, which includes a 35P4A in the neck position, a 35P4CS in the bridge position, a volume control for each pickup, a master tone control, and an active EXB control (bass/treble expander). The two pickups are EMG's reverse P models, with the neck pickup featuring AlNiCo magnets for added warmth where you want it, and the ceramic-steel version in the bridge position for added clarity where you need it. The EXB control boosts both the highs and lows at the same time as cutting the mids, which gives you instant slap tone.

The 21 fret roasted maple neck is manufactured by Warmoth. The nut width is a Jazz bass sized 1.5", and the finish is a satin oil/poly blend. The neck gets sanded to 600 grit, while we bullet nose the fret ends and polish them to a smooth 12,000 grit. All of which makes it a real joy to play.

A set of DR Strings Hi-Beam stainless steel strings runs between a Kluson high mass bridge over a Tone Ninja nut to a set of Schaller BM Light tuners.

The bass weighs in at a comfy 7.5 lbs, and it balances perfectly on a strap thanks to the lightweight BM Light tuners (and also because it's a medium-scale, in case you missed that earlier).

The bass comes with a 20mm padded Gator 4G gig bag.
