An incredible opportunity to own one of the rarest versions of a snare drum that many consider the best in the world, the Ludwig Black Beauty. This is a 100th Anniversary edition, one of 100 hand engraved by John Aldridge at Ludwig's request. To the best of my knowledge this is the only one for sale right now.
I spoke to John himself after purchasing the drum and he told me it's #24 of 100. A true one-of-a-kind drum.
Manufactured and engraved in the USA in 2009, it features gold plated hardware including the hoops, lugs and P86 Millennium throw-off. The original unplayed top head is included, as is the manufacturer warranty card. It comes with a unique brown leather hard case.
It sounds as amazing as it looks, with that huge and distinctive Black Beauty 'crack', while also being highly responsive at lower volume. You can find out more about the specification at VintageLudwig.com.
It's been in the case for most of the time I've had it and only played a few times (with a different head). There are some surface scratches on the shell and hardware, and some of the gold hardware has darkened slightly, but it looks mega overall and I reckon most of the surface imperfections could be polished out. I'd call it 8/10 condition. I'm happy to send any specific pictures you'd like to see.
I've included a link to an unboxing video by Memphis Drum Shop - exactly the same model but not this specific drum.
Any questions, or further picture requests, give me a shout.
