This is a 1987 Ibanez S540-Pro in Black Cherry, with chrome hardware.
It's all original except the strap buttons have been replaced with Schaller locking buttons and the tremolo arm socket has been upgraded to a Schaller type with a collar so it can be easily tightened to stay put.
As you can see, it also includes the Backstop tremolo stabilizer. I sold one of those last year for $220 by itself!
This is the first year of what would become the S-Series guitar line, and they were top of the line guitars for Ibanez when they came out. Quality Japanese build from the golden age of Japanese instruments.
The original IBZUSA pickups (made by DiMarzio) sound great and the single coils are "stacked" so there's no noise. The Volume knob is a push/push pot that splits the bridge pickup.
Overall this guitar is in great shape for being 35+ years old. It does have some fine pick scratches and a couple small dings on the front. The back has a lot of scratches and some finish checking.
Surprisingly it does not have the finish cracks by the neck pocket that almost every Ibanez from this era to present day tends to have.
I don't have the back trem plate.
I can replace the strap buttons with some Ibanez buttons if you prefer.
There is some fret wear on the first 4-5 frets as can be seen in the photos. It doesn't affect playability...
I've had this guitar for many years and it's in the same condition as when I bought it except for the minor modifications mentioned.
It will be shipped in a hard case for protection. The case itself may not be 100% but will protect the guitar during shipment.
Any questions please ask.
Please don't make silly offers, nobody has time for that.
