Made in Korea Sigma by Martin DV-4 guitar.
This instrument was manufactured early 1990s. It features GORGEOUS highly figured Ovangkol sides and back. Features: spruce top, ovangkol back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, tortoise shell pictogram body binding, multi-line top sound hole rosette herringbone stripe, Sigma script logo, chrome enclosed tuning machines
"Ovangkol comes from the same family as bubinga and thus shares many of the same tonal qualities. It has the depth of rosewood, but with better “snap” generally associated with medium density woods such as koa and walnut. Ovangkol is found in Africa from the Ivory Coast and Ghana, to southern Nigeria and Gabon. Europeans have long realized the tonal potential of this timber and now American guitar builders are beginning to appreciate its interlocking grain and way it takes a stain. Ovangkol is also known as Mozambique, Shedua, Amazoue, or Amazakoue."
The instrument is as close to new as it could possibly be without being new. The frets are like new and the professional setup is recent w/medium phosphor bronze strings.
Sounds like mahogany.
The video is not THIS guitar, but is the identical model and era, presented as an example of expected tonality.
