Yamaha SA 1000 1978 - Persimmon Red

Folks you will not believe that this guitar is 45 years old. Just incredible Japanese craftsmanship. This is a Yamaha SA 1000 in Persimmon Red and includes the original badged Yamaha hard shell case. This model was built in Japan by Yamaha during a period from 1977 to 1983. It was a model targeted to Professional musicians and its original price was 100,000 yen back in 1978.

We dated the guitar by the pickups. One pickup is stamped SA 1000 and dated 1978. The other pickup (which might have been replaced) simply says SA and is dated 1983 however, the serial number range would indicate 1978 rather than 1983. Rest of the electronics are original as well.

The guitar is a substantial 9.0 pounds on the nose so has some nice heft but still incredibly well balanced. It has birch top, back, and sides. Next to no flaws whatsoever. Mahogany neck with a nice dark rosewood board that almost looks like ebony. The center block is maple sandwiched between kerfed spruce.

The guitar is perfectly setup, plenty of life in the frets, and the electronics are clean and sound great. The pics are all of the actual guitar you will happily unpack. It is hard to find Japanese vintage in this nice a condition.
