About This Listing

You're looking at a Vintage 1984 G&L SC-1 that was purchased in 2012 from Buffalo Brothers Guitars in Carlsbad, CA (now defunct).  This "late Leo Fender-era" guitar, with its superior build quality, is in very good condition and comes with what you'd expect from a vintage 1980's guitar: honest wear such as dings, scuffs, and finish (i.e. paint) checking, which can be seen in the photos provided.  This particular SC-1 has a fast neck with low action, and with its highly desirable original Magnetic Field Design Pickup it's very loud while also being more sonically versatile than you might expect.  It's been called a cross between a Tele and a Les Paul Jr., but SC-1's have their own distinct character and they're far less common than either Tele's or LP Jr.'s (only 250 SC-1's were made).

From the moment you pick it up this instrument feels like it plays itself.  These SC's are also well known for their ability to hold their tuning, and this guitar is no exception.

This guitar hasn’t had a Setup since I've owned it, the reason being that I haven’t felt like it needed one. I recently had an instrument buyer from a store that specializes in vintage acquisitions check it out, and he confirmed to me that this guitar is ready to play right out of the box. I've played shows and tracked many recordings with this SC-1, and in my opinion the only thing this guitar is screaming for right now is a 1/4in cable and a cranked up tube amp.

This guitar is all original save for the Nut, which Buffalo Brothers cut and installed right before shipping it to me.  (The original Nut can be included if desired.)  The new Nut is in perfect working condition, but personally I'm not thrilled with the high E slot, which becomes more noticeable as you play higher up the neck.  It's a little further out than I'd like, but it's a minor issue that I hardly notice.

I've dated this guitar at 1984 according to its Serial Number (which begins with G013***) and by matching it with the dates found on G&L's website.  (If you Google "G&L serial numbers", the top result that begins with "G&L Chronology" should take you to the right place.  I'd post the link here but item descriptions on Reverb.com can't contain external links.)

This guitar is looking for a nice, Decibel-Friendly home, and if you have any questions about this amazing SC-1 that weren't addressed in this description or in the photographs then feel free to ask away.  Cheers!

(Comes with original case.  I will ship with tracking and insurance.  Shipping is currently listed at $60, however please send me a message to negotiate shipping rates to a specific location.)
