Doc Huff is not only a skilled banjo luthier, but an angel walking among us. Doc volunteered to serve in Vietnam when he was 17 and became a medic treating battlefield wounds. After the war, Doc went to college and then medical school and became a physician. He dedicated his medical practice to treating patients in battle zones and other urgent situations.

His shop, home and family are based in Oregon where he built both his home and his workshop by hand. He is a true renaissance man.

Doc is an innovative banjo luthier and uses rare and exotic hardwoods that he has collected in his world travels. He has made many kinds of banjos with non-traditional scale lengths, head sizes, and extended scoops for frailing. This banjo was a custom order and is a traditional open back banjo with a 12” head, and a 25.5” scale with an integrated wood tone ring. The woods on this piece are spectacular and rare. This banjo is a work of art,
has a majestic tone and is meant to be an heirloom instrument.

Please go to the website that Doc Huff has put together to get a better understanding of him and his work.

If this banjo was ordered from Doc today, the cost would be approximately $4,000.
