Vintage 1920s-30s May Bell Parlor Acoustic Guitar, most likely made by Regal or Harmony in USA. This guitar is being sold as found, a semi-working project which will require repairs to work properly. Has a cool MOTS (mother of toilet seat), faux mother of pearl overlay on the fretboard and headstock with original May Bell logo/decal intact. Guitar is made with all solid woods, appears to be birch or cherry. Bound top and sound hole, nice rounded neck profile, original wooden endpin. Guitar is in rough shape with a slightly sunken-in top from bracing in need of repair. Bridge appears to be original with what look like mid-century Harmony bridge pins, and is lifting and in need of repair. Has original fretwire saddle and may have been colored or touched up. Bridge appears to have been removed and reglued at some point with marks around perimeter. The finish looks like it was sanded, messed with and possibly refinished/clear coated, with tiny holes around the bridge as if it originally had a fake resonator cover or something. Tons of wear and patina on this old gal. Has what look like MIJ replacment tuners with Chiclet style buttons, mounted upside down so tuning is in reverse and is currently strung incorrectly. Original bone nut with extra slots, frets are ancient but appear to be original and serviceable. 12 frets to the body with 24" scale length, 13-1/8" lower bout and 9-5/8" upper, no major seam separations with a minor crack on the lower back that may have been repaired and some smaller ones on the top with some warping near sound hole. Has ladder braced top with typical Regal slant bracing. Slack tuned for slide it sounds great, will need a neck reset and repairs to play well as a fretted instrument. Sold as found and pictured, with no case. Packed and shipped quickly with experience you can trust, thanks for looking!
