One Winter I had too much time on my hands and some money to burn. I had always dreamed of owning a Rickenbacker but lacked the two Grand needed to purchase one. I came up with a semi brilliant plan. I purchased a Body and Neck from that place in Eastern Asia where the infamous "Chickenbackers" are made. Produced on special order by a Master Craftsman who I'm quite convinced has never actually seen or played an authentic Rickenbacker Electric Guitar. Toiling under the yoke of Communist Oppression he was able to deliver to me this beautiful slab of Wood. After 3 or 4 tries I was able to find Tuning Pegs that fit. I was able to find "Rick" replacement Pickups and a pretty darn close Bridge. After a few different Tail Pieces, I found one that looked right. I made a few attempts at making a Pickguard but after a while I had a Luther craft me one that ended up costing three times more than he said it would. When it was done, I strung it up, plugged it in and gave it a Strum. It sounded wonderful. How does it play you might ask. Like a Baseball Bat with Strings......This would be the perfect 12 String for someone with huge Hands and big meaty fingers. Also great for someone who wants to stand on Stage holding what looks like an expensive Guitar. Excellent as a Stage Prop or Wall Ornament. It is not a complete loss. If you want to play an Electric but miss the large Neck of your Acoustic this one's for you. It really does sound nice if you put it into an open Tuning and play Slide......comes with a 40-year-old Guitar Case that smells like Grandma's. Root Celler.
