How Wacky is this? Introducing the Gibson Custom Sweetwater Les Paul Modern Custom - Silver Sparkle, Flamed Maple Neck... now that's a mouthful.

Perhaps one of the strangest Les Pauls out there, Sweetwater's "Modern Beauty" Les Paul Custom was introduced in 2015, and extremely few were made - the total production number could be counted on one hand. Needless to say, they almost never come up for sale. The "Modern Beauty" series was revamped in 2016 with different finishes and flame tops, but the Silver Sparkle remains the model that started it all - and has a vibe all of its own!

The Modern Beauty brings the Les Paul Custom into the 21st Century with a couple notable features. First of all, there is the 5-piece flamed maple neck. Coming from 2015, it has a real rosewood fretboard instead of the Richlite of the era. It has an ABR-1 Bridge, like a reissue style Custom, but it has special electronics - Push/pull controls, which originally split the pickups on both the volume controls (however, the Super Distortion is not wired to be splittable in the current wiring configuration) , and the neck tone has a phase inversion control feature. And, it came stock with locking Grover tuners!

The bridge pickup on this example has been replaced with a DiMarzio Super Distortion - the best pickup of all time! Just ask (or listen to) Ace, there's simply nothing better than a Super Distortion-equipped LPC through a Marshall stack! But, the original 4-conductor Custombucker is included if you should choose to swap it back in.

Condition is "Very Good". Hardware has some tarnishing. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a DiMarzio Super Distortion, but the original CustomBucker is included. The coil split function for the bridge pickup is not currently wired to be functional. Neck pickup split and phase inversion function are still intact. The neck pickup is the original CustomBucker. There are light scratches throughout. The back has light impression marks. There is some staining/scuffing to some areas on the back and sides. There is staining to the corresponding areas in the case. The case has some scratches. Includes pictured case candy, COA, pickup, and hang tags.

These pickups use period-correct wire and a precise number of turns to create the tone we all know and love. The volume and tone knobs feature a push-pull configuration that allows you to choose between classic humbuckers and single coils.
