Andres Martin de Diego Classical 1966 - Natural

Please read carefully. This is a guitar made by the Madrid luthier Andrés Martín de Diego . Spruce bearclaw top and African red wood back and sides. Ebony fretboard. Brazilian rosewood head plate. It is a sonorous and well balanced instrument. Very light weight. It has a scale of 660 mm. It has 2 cracks on the back that have been professionally repaired by a renowned luthier. It also has a gap between the two halves of the top, possibly due to age and weather changes or perhaps extreme dryness, but that has also been repaired. The finish appears to be French polish. In my opinion the guitar needs to be polished again but I personally don't dare to do it. That is why I have put it up for sale at a fairly reasonable price for an instrument built by Andrés Martín de Diego almost 60 years ago. The top is signed inside by the luthier. In addition to his personal signature, it says October 1966, guitar no. 550. Make me a reasonable offer.

Andrés Martín de Diego (Madrid, Spain, December 19, 1911 - Madrid, Spain, March 30, 1977), was a Spanish luthier specializing in guitars, bandurrias and lutes. Martín de Diego was gaining recognition in the circle of instrumentalists of the time and his guitars were gaining more and more clients, so he made the decision to dedicate himself entirely to the luthier trade. With the opening, in 1955, of his own workshop at number 22 Calle Divino Pastor in Madrid came his consecration in the trade. In this workshop he built, until his death in 1977, more than a thousand guitars and several hundred bandurrias and lutes that have come into the hands of instrumentalists around the world.

Some of the classical artists who have played his instruments are Narciso Yepes, José Luis Rodrigo, Regino Sainz de la Maza, Julian Bream, José Romero, Manuel Grandío or José Miguel Moreno. Also in flamenco, names like Víctor Monje “Serranito”, Sabicas or Manolo Sanlúcar stand out and in popular music others such as Julio Iglesias, Alberto Cortez, Luis Pastor, Amancio Prada, Nuestro Pequeño Mundo, Jayme Marques, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Los Tres de Castilla , Los Payadores, El Trío Siboney, Sergio y Estíbaliz or, his own grandson, Pablo A. Martín from the Tangerine Flavor group.

His sister Amalia and his disciple and brother-in-law Javier Rojo Solar collaborated in his work, who continued the activity of the workshop after the death of Martín de Diego, which remained open until 2008.
