Mid-1980s ESP Random Star restored by The Fret Shack (an authorized ESP service/warranty center) in Baton Rouge. This insanely rare guitar Japan-market-only guitar began life as a red Akira Takasaki Random Star with mirror plates. It arrived at The Fret Shack poorly refinished by a previous owner, and missing its factory electronics and Akira mirrors. We started from its original body, neck, Floyd Rose and keys and worked our way up. The lightweight, resonant alder body was expertly refinished in "alien bile metalflake" by Joel Cangiolosi at Full Blown Paint in Louisiana. The headstock was finished with a period correct repro logo from Rothco & Frost UK by The Fret Shack. The fingerboard also received a Jescar NS18 58118 refret and a hand-rubbed Danish oil trunk refinish. The guitar is currently loaded with handwound prototype A5/A2 "Akirabuckers" from Carondelet Guitar and Bass Pickups in Baton Rouge. It will ship in a double-stitched ESP Japan factory hardshell that we spent considerable time and $$$ to source. There are well over $1400 in paint and pro component upgrades and bench labor on this one, not including the cost of the OHSC. Price is $2700 plus $125 shipping if I have to ship.
