Gibson Memphis ES-335 Studio (2-Knob) 2014 Sunburst Ginger Burst

From the sorely missed Gibson Memphis factory comes this ES 335 Studio, which – much like the Les Paul Studio – did away with certain labor intensive aesthetic elements such as binding and headstock inlays in order to provide a more wallet-friendly entry point to the world of the American semi hallow body guitar.

Manufactured in 2014, this example comes to us in a nitrocellulose, high gloss "Ginger Burst" finish and features a 3 play maple body with a maple center block and is equipped with a Super 57 humbucking pickup in the bridge position complemented by a 57 Classic at the neck. Grover tuners occupy headstock real estate on a one piece C shaped maple neck with a torrefied maple fretboard that has received a simple black binding that extends over the fret edges. The body hardware configuration consists of a Tonepros AVR II bridge and stop-bar tailpiece while the simplified electronics consist of 1 volume, 1 tone knob and a three way switch.

While the guitar presents well with its high gloss finish, upon close inspection you can see that the prior owner made a light attempt at a matte or satin finish on the back of the neck and body using some sort of abrasive material. This does not impede the performance of the guitar as it is smooth to the touch, but it does reduce its value which is why the guitar has received a "Good" rating. Apart from some very minor scratches and small dents here and there on the back of the neck and body, along with minor hardware corrosion, the guitar is in great shape with only slight divots beginning to form on the first three frets and electronics that function as they should.
