Hello and welcome to The house of Chrome.

You are looking at one of the most famous and collectible Turner mics of all time. The Turner 33D with heavy deco influence and outrageous style that set it apart from every other microphone ever designed. This is the early 1940's 33D 1st generation series mic and it comes with the 1950's era Astatic E6G detachable desk stand shown which really compliments the mic.

This model 33D was actually the very first vintage microphone I ever bought and changed my life forever. Just a couple years later I was restoring and selling vintage mics. It was a great first mic to collect and one of the coolest among the many.

You'll see in pic # 2 an old 1940's Turner advertisement showing specs and priced on this mic.

Pic # 3 shows Billie Holiday performing live with none other than the Turner 33D model microphone. This mic wasn't ideal for such situations as there were better mics but it could get the job done if need be.

The 33 series was first introduced in the 1940's and had a run of about 20 + years. The first generation 33 mics had a rounded lower pistol grip while the 2nd generation had the flat rectangular lower front pistol grip. Otherwise, the microphone looked the same. The 33 series also came with either a crystal or dynamic element. The crystal elements were inferior and wore out over time while the dynamic elements sounded much better and tended to last over the decades.

This is the dynamic version but sure enough the original element no longer works. This should be used for repair, display or prop purposes only.

As you can see the satin chrome finish is in very nice overall condition as seen in the detailed  pics provided. No engravings, scratches or dents. The satin chrome finish has a beautiful luster still and it will make for a good display piece. The black silk screen is perfect and the joint mechanism is flawless offering plenty of resistance to get the right angle needed and the threads for both the cable and stand are perfect.

The Turner badge looks very good and completely legible.

The overall finish of the mic I would give a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The stand is a 1940's / 50 era Astatic brand E6G desk stand.

This model was a detachable desk stand that has a painted aluminum base with detachable painted wooden handle allowing the user of the mic to quickly release the mic attached and walk around using the handle to support the mic with the twist of the handle.

This design was very practical for it's time as very few people actually held those older mics in their hand. It was considered taboo so the mic stand handle was a more civilized and practical option.

The stands riser seats on the base via a small hole where the riser sits. There is plenty of tension once applied. Easy to remove once twisted half way and lifted upwards.

Often the top of the wood handle is stripped out from years of use making it hard for ant mic to screw onto the handle but this handle is excellent.

The top wooden riser has the black painted finish and looks very nice while the bottom painted aluminum base shows the same amount of wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The stand has the 3 original rubber pads and they are in excellent shape. Stand is appx 6 inches tall X 5 inches wide. With mic on top it's appx 10 inches tall.

Mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have if you don't like the desk stand provided.

This will make a very cool display piece anywhere in the home, studio or workplace.

And as with all my items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.
