Impossibly rare D-40 cutaway up for sale. This will be up for three weeks and it it hasn’t sold it will be taken down.
It has some wear and the bridge has been replaced. The luthier who replaced the bridge before I bought it used two screws and glue to set the bridge. It’s something the buyer might want to address but I’ve had it for years without issues. It sounds and plays fantastic.

It looks to me to have had a small crack repaired from near the neck to the soundhole. I noticed it when looking at the rosette. See the close up photo

The neck is comfortable and it sounds great. Beautiful patina
with some finish checking and a few whiskey dents.

If there are photos of anything that you would like to see please ask. I’m selling it as is.

My understanding is that it’s the first dreadnaught cutaway.
