This pair (28" and 25") of Ludwig timpani feature a copper shell, steel base and balanced action pedal. They have been owned and maintained for over 20 years by a professional timpanist. The heads (Evans) are in great shape and the drums themselves have some wear that is consistent with a vintage musical instrument, as pictured. These drums hold their pitch well when played and are perfectly suited for a student, school or church.
This model of timpani was the predecessor to Ludwig's Universal model timpani. Nearly every American orchestra had a set comparable to these in the 1930s.
