DYNAUDIO - CORE 59 - Studio monitor (Pair)

The Core 59 represents the pinnacle of precision, consistency and reliability for your studio.

When you're working on an art project (whether you or someone else is the author) you need equipment you can trust. A professional producer or sound engineer is part of the creative process, and their ears are their most trusted tools. They know what sounds good and that a good reference instructor can help them turn a good performance into a great one.

The Core 59 (the flagship of our high-end professional reference monitor series) is that monitor. This three-way speaker offers uncompromising Class D amplification, state-of-the-art digital signal processing, a 32mm thick super-inert cabinet and a smooth bass response of up to 42Hz with -6dB at 36 Hz.

This is a serious system designed for serious audio professionals. The Core 59 is made for those very demanding environments where sound engineers, mixers, producers and editors work. It has been specially designed to solve many of the monitoring problems that seasoned professionals face every day.

Listen without fatigue all day (and night).

Listening fatigue is the Achilles heel of any studio engineer. Once it's there, there's no point in continuing. The Core 59's all-new Esotar Pro tweeter was created to prevent fatigue and keep you going until the end of the mix.

We've long been known for our soft dome tweeters and their smooth sound. They deliver perfect spatiality and detail for hours on end without the fatigue that characterizes other types of designs. The Esotar Pro builds on this heritage with the ingenious Hexis device. It is an internal dome that sits directly behind the diaphragm and optimizes airflow, smooths frequency response and eliminates unwanted internal resonances. The result is exceptional spatiality, detailed transients and a natural high frequency response.

The speaker’s 5-inch midrange driver delivers stunning detail. It uses our proprietary MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) material in its taper for the best combination of lightness, stiffness and cushioning. Combined with an aluminum voice coil, it offers incredibly fast response and absolute control thanks to its neodymium magnet system. With cutoff frequencies of 312Hz and 5.1kHz, the Core 59 delivers a much larger portion of the vocal range with a single speaker than typical designs. This ensures that your mixing choices on vocal balance and dialogue intricacies are taken with confidence.

The new Core 59 woofer is the result of 18 months of extensive study of subwoofer technology, including our 18S subwoofer, which goes down to 16Hz. The result of this research is a new coil cylinder. copper and fiberglass mobile, driven by ceramic magnets and a 500 W Class D Pascal amplifier. It gives the 9.5 “long excursion woofer greater grip at the bottom and smooth frequency response. compromise. And because every speaker is handcrafted in our factory in Denmark (we produce 1.4 million speakers every year for our living room speakers, custom installations, Car Audio and Audio Pro) , we can maintain incredible consistency. This means that you can use Core monitors in multiple studios, have the same sound at the same volume. You hear what you need to hear, wherever you are. If you need to replace a speaker, you can do it yourself and calibrate it to less than 0.2dB like on the AIR series, or ask your technical center to do a full factory calibration.

Ultra flexible positioning and Orbit baffle.

When we revolutionized studio monitoring with the AIR series, we also revolutionized speaker placement. Literally. AIR made it possible to use a three-way speaker in multiple orientations without compromising the phase response of the midrange speaker and tweeter. This is thanks to the assembly of the tweeter and the midrange speaker which can be rotated in the enclosure.

It is also possible to orient the Orbit cabinet for use on the left, right or in the center position. You can even position the woofer above the tweeter / midrange assembly to place it in front of a console for LCR use.

Each application is unique and the monitors sometimes have to be placed in a variety of environments (sideways, vertically or sometimes even inverted), so we have made recesses on all four sides of the Core 59. Just place the pads there. Dynaudio specials to protect the housing and stabilize it on the mounting surface.

The Core 59 is also compatible with standard VESA mounting brackets or our custom K&M bracket if you wish to mount them to walls or ceilings as part of a multi-channel or immersive reference system such as Dolby ATMOS.

A sophisticated DSP surprisingly easy to use.

The AIR series was renowned for its advanced DSP system. But our acoustical engineers don't believe in resting on our laurels, so they are constantly looking for innovative and more efficient ways of doing things. This work has made it possible to make great progress in improving the CSPs, but also in the way they are applied on a daily basis. You, our users, wanted something easier to use, and that's exactly what the Core series delivers; with even better performance.

Positioning is essential when installing a monitoring system. This is why each Core 59 has two DSP filter switches to suit the speaker placement and the specifics of each location. For example, if you place the monitors above the VU meters of a full-size mixing console, set them to "Desk". This will compensate for the first reflection created by the surface of the console. On the other hand, if you are placing the monitors in a purpose-built wall, set the Position 1 filter to “Soffit” to compensate for the increased bass response.

Proximity effects created by placing a monitor near walls or ceilings can be compensated for by setting the Position 2 filter between “Wall” or “Corner”. These filters help compensate for reflections created by nearby walls, especially at low frequencies. There is also an 80Hz low frequency Linkwitz-Riley filter which can be activated if you are using the Core 59 with a subwoofer to extend the low frequency response.

Users can also change the overall layout. The Core 59 uses the same concept as the Sound Balance filter from the LYD series. This is a different design from the typical shelf equalizer tweeter and woofer settings found on most active monitors. Instead of just lowering or raising the level of the tweeter, which will affect the phase response, the Core 59 uses a full spectrum bandpass filter that switches according to the desired tonal response. In the "Dark" setting, the entire frequency response draws a slope so that at 20 kHz has an attenuation of -1.5 dB, while at 20 Hz the increase will be + 1.5 dB. In "Bright" mode, the inclination of the slope is reversed (+ 1.5 dB at 20 kHz and - 1.5 dB at 20 Hz). This lightweight filter maintains the proper phase response between the speakers while providing the tone you want. The changes are subtle, but often this small adjustment is enough to balance the sound perfectly.

Input sensitivity your way.

The background noise and signal resolution of any monitoring system are critical to its performance. Whether you are using the analog or digital inputs, you should be able to control the distribution of gain between the monitoring station and the speaker system. We offer a range of 0dBu to + 24dBu to match the sensitivity of the analog input to the output level. Once optimized, the Core 59 processes all analog signals at 192kHz sample rate and 64-bit resolution in the DSP (from the 24-bit analog-to-digital converter) to achieve the highest degree of mathematical precision.

There is a switch to determine the maximum output sound pressure level with the greatest bit depth in the DSP. If you want the maximum volume, set it to 112 dB. If you are mainly working at lower volumes, choose a lower sound pressure level setting to optimize the bit resolution of the DSP for both inputs.

When using the AES digital inputs, you need to determine which channel (left or right) of the AES stream is used for this monitor. The Core 59's DSP operates at the incoming sample rate and locks to the digital audio or word clock signal to keep the signal as accurate as possible.

The heart of your studio.

We designed the Core 59 for you. We've designed it to be used where and when you need it, whether it's close-range, mid-range, main-listening, or overhead monitoring. It's designed for mastering, mixing, music recording, soundtrack remixing, sound design or sound editing for games and anywhere you need an uncompromising monitoring system.

The Core 59 is ready for installation in immersive high sound pressure audio environments and other multi-channel environments with analog and digital connectivity, DSP controlled acoustic response and scalable positioning. This means complete tonal consistency whatever your monitoring needs.

It really delivers everything you need to hear.
