Absolutely STUNNING and Rare Vintage 1920s Stromberg Voisinet Parlor Acoustic Guitar in Excellent condition with vintage Geib style case! This wonderful gem is in fantastic shape and appears to be all original. This was made for Hawaiian Slide style playing and still has it's original tall bone nut made for slide. I bought this years ago with the intention of turning it into a standard fretted guitar, but I haven't gotten around to it and am offering it in it's original state. Stromberg Voisinet turned into Kay Kraft and then to The Kay Musical Instrument Co. in about 1932, so this predates that transition and could have been made anywhere between about 1920 and 1931. I've seen similar models marked Bruno, although this one doesn't have any apparent manufacturer's markings or date codes. 100 year old tonewoods, with solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, wood marquetry purfling around body and rosette with bound top, back, fretboard, sound hole and headstock, classic Stromberg Gumby style headstock with half-open slots. Parlor sized with 12 frets to the body and 36-3/4" in length, 13-1/4" lower bout, 9-3/8" upper bout, 24-1/4" scale length with 1-3/4" nut. Ebonized fretboard has pearl inlays and still has many of the the original position stickers on the fretboard. Wood marquetry purfling is beautiful and completely intact, binding original and intact from head to toe. Top notch original tuning machines are in exceptional shape, as are wooden neck heel piece and strap peg. The neck is nice and straight and with a sweet deep V profile that feels incredible, making this a great candidate for converting into a fretted player. Sounds fantastic with plenty of volume and sweet balanced tone from these old solid woods. The previous owner reglued the original bridge with what appears to be polyurethane glue, leaving some minor discoloration on the top near bridge area. Bridge isn't perfectly flush with the top, glued on tight and holds tension when tuned up. Saddle insert and bridge pins appear to be original. Top is mostly flat with very slight belly behind bridge and no warping around sound hole, very slight separation at center seam. Back appears to be one piece mahogany and has small dryness crack/separation near the bottom. Finish probably original, although there are a couple small spots near the sound hole/rosette that look like small drops. Minor finish imperfections visible on top of body and back of headstock (pics are blurry,) rosewood overlay on headstock is very clean. Ships with a very cool vintage Geib style deluxe case that is damaged, but fits well and looks great. Case is coming apart at the seams and storage compartment is broken, with some tears on the purple felt. All latches, hinges and sausage handle intact. Packed and shipped quickly with experience you can trust. Thanks for looking!
