DESCRIPTION:

Small body, comfortable to play & was originally considered to be a beginner/low intermediate instrument. This was essentially a no frills axe, with ladder bracing construction, solid tone woods, ivoroid bindings, a simple white/black/white rosette on the sound hole, simple 3 per side inline Kluson tuners with plastic buttons, a basic belly bridge & an ink stamped Gibson logo on her headstock. Guitar is fully original, other than a new non adjustable replacement rosewood belly bridge. These LG-1 models originally had a hard plastic bridge which was glued & affixed with screws; they were prone to warping & lifting after years of use, which was the case with this particular instrument. Original bridge will be included in the sale.

CONDITION:

Overall, in our opinion, guitar is in excellent condition. There is some weather checking, primarily on the spruce top but also on the sides & neck along with a few assorted marks & dings from natural play wear. There is also overall yellowing of the binding. There are no cracks, no breaks, no structural issues & no finish problems, whatsoever. There is a round mahogany patch about 1/4” in diameter on the lower treble bout side. There had been a pickup installed at some point with a 1/4” input jack, thus a hole existed which our talented luthier plugged with mahogany to match the construction & finish. Frets are original & still have loads of meat. Please view our pix. Original tortoise style pick guard is flat & tight. Original truss rod cover, screws and lower strap pin are both 100%. Both of the three per side Kluson in line tuning mechanisms w plastic buttons rotate easily. She has a fine, balanced tone, which is not super loud, as she is a smaller bodied guitar. Very comfortable against the players body & in the hands. Great axe for flat or finger picking. She’s been professionally set up with D’Addario 10-47 Xtra light gauge phosphor bronze strings.
