1989 Fender Stratocaster - American Standard - Black - Near-Mint

Incredibly clean 1989 American Standard Stratocaster in near-mint condition. This solid, well-made 33-year-old instrument feels almost as if it just rolled out of the Corona, CA factory.

The original Fender single coil pickups and electronics are lively, sparking and dynamic, with a 5-way switch, and a standard middle/bridge “TBX” tone knob, which sends more bass, treble, presence and output at higher settings.

The maple neck is a Modern C profile with a 9.5” fingerboard radius. The guitar plays cleanly up and down the register with no fret buzz.

The neck stamp reads “10-06-1989’ and indicates that the guitar was built by Hector Montes, a well-respected Fender builder who later worked at the Fender Custom Shop where he helped craft some of Fender’s highest-end instruments.

The guitar is all original except for 2 upgrades: a set of Sperzel locking tuners and a self lubricating Graphtech nut, keeping the guitar in tune wonderfully. It’s currently set up with D’Addario .10-.46 strings, with low action, accurate intonation, and optimal neck relief. The original tremolo arm is included.

The black finish is remarkably well-kept, with some faint finish swirling on the back of the instrument, as well as a some light play wear clustered near the tremolo cavity cover. Frets 1-3 show minor use, but have plenty of life left.

Its previous owner clearly took care of this instrument and so have I. It’s been stored in a humidity controlled room or in its original hard case (included).

This is a solid and versatile vintage instrument whose best years are ahead of it!
