Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-58 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A “Crafted in Japan” instrument exclusively sold in the Japanese domestic market, this Strat is rarely seen outside of its country of origin. Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, ensuring a smooth, balanced natural acoustic tone. The pickup complement includes a trio of replaced MIM Standard (Fender Mexico) alnico magnet single coils. These pickups offer spank and bite at the bridge; a round, bell-like quality at the neck; and plenty of hollow quack at the in-between positions on the five-way switch. Weighing 7lbs 3oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile with lightly rolled edges and nicely rounded shoulders, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius and stock slender fretwire that retains its full factory height, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-4. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, well-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. The headstock features an era-accurate "spaghetti" logo and Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold consistent pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and Q-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All the electronics function as intended, with the three Fender Mexico staggered pole alnico magnet single coils governed by a five-way selector switch and Volume/Tone/Tone control configuration. Under the pickguard, there is fairly rudimentary non-factory routing to accommodate humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions.

The vibrato has a full-size block, actuating easily for quick warbles and deeper dives. The plastic tremolo cavity cover has been removed, but is included in the gigbag with the guitar (and screws necessary to re-affix). Plastics have all been substituted and comprise a three-ply black pickguard, black knobs, and ivory pickup covers. Cosmetic wear on the three-tone Sunburst gloss finish is limited to some light scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth.

A gigbag is included.
