This
gorgeous 2003 1956 Les Paul Brazilian Stinger quilt top model was made by Gibson
Custom in Nashville TN. and commissioned by Dave and Connie Carpenter, original
owners of Music Machine in good ole Kennewick Washington. Edwin Wilson who is
the Gibson Custom Division Histroric manager was in charge of this project and
hand picked all the tone woods for the stingers guitars and this is the reason
these guitars were all about tone. Dave and Connie wanted to make sure these
guitars played and sounded incredible and placed all the effort in this area.
This
guitar features a Gibson verified Brazilian Rosewood finger board and Stinger
head stock. For you seasoned collectors you know that Dave Carpenter and Music
Machine was the largest Gibson dealer in the mid 2000's until Dave retired and
sold the store in 2005 and Music Machine always got the best wood out of Gibson.
Music Machine was the dealer that was responsible for the Brazilian Stinger and
Cloud 9 Les Paul guitars.
There were only 34 1956
Brazilian Stinger Les Paul reissues in this run and only 2 were done in this
color with the 1960 neck profile. The Gibson SKU number for this guitar is
LP56QT60DT68. This
guitar is serial number 63045 MM10 and is truly a stunning guitar. It has all
specs of a 56 reissue including long neck tenon, selected huge quilted Maple
top, solid Mahogany back and neck, P90 pickups, 22 fret 24 3/4" scale Brazilian
Rosewood finger board, nickel hardware, Kluson double tuners, ABR-1 bridge, 2
tone 2 volume knobs, 3 way pick up switch, light weight stop Bar tail piece, 1
11/16" nut width, binding on front of body, 59 neck profile, and nitro cellulose
lacquer Tangerine Burst finish. The color is absolutely just stunning with a
great huge peek a boo top. The top is just so thick and lush with figure its
hard for a camera to catch all of it. Its a very 3D top and moves around a lot
when you hold it from different angles.
This
guitar is all original in new condition, collector owned and unplayed in its
original case with all the original hang tags, pick guard, customer care kit,
strap, Gibson certificate of authenticity, Music Machine Brazilian Stinger
certificate of authenticity, and the Music Machine Stinger booklet describing
the series. The nickel hardware is starting to gracefully age with a very nice
patina. This one came from the "good wood years". The guitar weighs in at 8
pounds 9 ounces and I have taken a mixture of 20 indoor and outdoor photos and the top
really stands out. Notice the gorgeous Maple figure in the top. This is truly a
stunning example that just cant be replicated today.
