Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale headless Baritone, gloss WHITE finish, OEM gig-bag with factory accessories. Year of manufacture is approximately 2008.
This Steinberger TranScale guitar has a 28.5” baritone scale, an epoxy resin fretboard, active EMG 81 and EMG 85 pickups, a master volume control, magnetic/piezo blend, 2 band EQ (high and low bands) and a piezo pickup under the bridge. The guitar has a combination headpiece, which allows for the use of single-ball or double-ball strings. Synapse model guitars were designed and manufactured to be very strong structurally for unsurpassed stability.
When the roller capo is positioned in the home position, which is off the scale above the zero fret, the guitar is set to be played a full step down from a standard guitar, a baritone DGCFAD. When the sliding roller capo is positioned on the second fret, the guitar is then set to be played as a standard guitar, EADGBE. If you are not familiar with the TranScale model, please research the design, operation, and dot markings prior to purchasing this guitar. The reference dot markers on the TOP of the fretboard are NOT THE SAME as the reference dot markers on the SIDE of the fretboard (see pic # 12).
The fretboard TOP dot markers are for reference when using the guitar as a 28.5" scale baritone. With Light TranScale strings, the tuning without the capo engaged is DGCFAD.
The fretboard SIDE dot markers are shifted up 2 frets for reference when the capo is rolled up toward the bridge by 2 frets. With Light TranScale strings, this capo position sets the ST-2FPA tuning to EADGBE like a standard 25.5” scale guitar.
Synapse TranScale guitars come stock with Steinberger Light TranScale 10-13-17-26w-36w-46w double-ball strings. I removed the originals and installed a brand-new set of these strings just before to posting this listing.
If you want to tune the ST-2FPA even lower than DGCFAD using double-ball strings, Steinberger also manufactures a Standard Baritone 12-16-26w-38w-52w-68w string set.
This WHITE ST-2FPA comes with all the goodies originally supplied by the factory, to include the Steinberger OEM ST-2FPA gig-bag, instrument cable, owner’s manual, and hex wrenches.
Per my postal scale, the weight of the guitar by itself with a 9-volt battery installed is 7 pounds, 0 ounces. Total weight with it inside of the gig-bag plus the accessories is 8 pounds, 8.5 ounces.
As far as manufacturing defects go, there are some spots on the guitar where the WHITE paint did not get sprayed on thick enough, so the wood shows through slightly in these areas as a light brown, like the WHITE color is somewhat translucent. I recently sold a NOS (new old stock) WHITE ST-2FPA and the paint deficiencies were similar, with thin paint on the bottoms of the fins and on the back of the neck near the headpiece. Please review the pics closely to see those areas where the WHITE is not quite as bright or 'deep' as the rest of the guitar.
This ST-2FPA appears to have been played very little. The frets show hardly any wear. There aren't even any pick swirls in the glossy finish by the pickups. The back of the body doesn't have any scratches in it either, not even light ones. There are 2 small scratches on the back of the neck though. See pics # 21 and # 22. From what I can see, the rest of the guitar finish looks like new. It's a very glossy solid WHITE factory paintjob.
This guitar is roughly 14 years old, so it is being sold as-is with no warranty, expressed or implied. Prior to shipping, the ST-2FPA will be given a full functionality test into an amplifier to verify that the electronic components are operating normally (no scratching, crackling, or popping sounds).
The WHITE ST-2FPA does not appear to have been used much, so it could still be set up as it was when it came from the Gibson factory. You might want to take it to your local guitar shop to it set it up more to your liking.
Please research all aspects of the Steinberger ST-2FPA via Google searches, YouTube demo videos, Facebook groups, music stores, musician’s blogs, etc. I recommend watching every posted YouTube demo video at the bare minimum. It is your responsibility to fully understand the details, pros, cons, and particulars surrounding this piece of gear before finalizing the sale from your Reverb shopping cart.
Message me with any questions prior to purchasing and consider all sales to be final as stated in the Reverb listing. This shop does not offer a try-before-you-buy option. If you purchase this ST-2FPA guitar and for some reason do not like the fit, controls, sound, functionality, or whatever, it will then be your turn to list it for sale from your Reverb shop. By purchasing this guitar, you are agreeing to the terms of sale outlined in this listing.
Shipping will be to the continental lower 48 USA states only, Hawaii and Alaska excluded. Total shipping cost stated in the listing includes packaging materials, UPS Ground shipping, and Reverb Safe Shipping full coverage shipping insurance. UPS Ground shipping for a headless guitar within the lower 48 states is estimated to be $80. Reverb recommends using 3% of the selling price to estimate the shipping insurance cost, which would be $28 in this case. The actual rate varies, so I'm going to try using a flat $20 for the insurance portion this time around.
The WHITE ST-2FPA will be shipped in the gig-bag inside of a standard guitar shipping box. Any remaining space inside of the guitar box will be filled with Styrofoam peanuts, cornstarch peanuts, Kraft paper, foam, and/or bubble wrap for maximum protection of the guitar.
