This Taylor 414 RCE was an upgraded wood from the standard Ovangkol wood used in the 400 series Taylors.
I am the 2nd owner of this guitar and I saw it in action through the years by a Louisville working musician. For a hard worked instrument this guitar does not show major nicking or dents; some tiny dings on the Spruce top. Please note the sound hole where his pick was hitting the bottom side (see picture). This does not effect the playability at all. Tommy Emanuel would call that blemish "Character"...
Another unusual thing about this guitar: the player was quite an eccentric when it came to equipment. He had no issue with replacing Taylor’s system 2 electronics with a K&K Sound Ultrapure Preamp, which has the standard Bass, Mid, Treble, volume controls (in sound hole), plus a phase button. It sounds quite clear through an amp or PA. (I have an 816ce and I can’t tell the difference with the pickup sound). I think the guy liked having the controls close at hand for adjustment during a song. The Hard shell case as pictured is included.
I live in a tobacco free home and have used this guitar for club work, church, weddings, etc……
