Kay C-1 1960 3/4 Upright Bass (DELIVERY AVAILABLE!)

1960 Kay C-1 in "Very Good Player condition" and otherwise "Good" cosmetic condition with one caveat: the elephant ear tuner for the D string broke off during the restoration and I never replaced it.  The tuner itself functions fine- I use a small plier to grab the post and tune. Never had an issue with it. Cosmetically, the instrument shows its age- the typical heavy wear at the binding it present. See pics for the worst of it- the back bottom doesn't look great but it's stable and is just in the upper layers of laminate. Ingles stand pictured is included in sale.

About the restoration:
All of these old Kays crack at the heel.  When I got this one in 2008, the infamous heel crack had already been repaired, but I felt that it had been done rather poorly, so I took it to a luthier and had the entire lower heel reconstructed and the connection to the neck reinforced with a large dowel.  The repair is rock solid and hasn't budged in the 14 years since.  While he was in there, the luthier installed a new bridge and sound post.  The tailpiece is original.  Action is set high for jazz (~10mm) but the action at the nut is as low as possible, so with an adjustment at the bridge you can set this to be the perfect setup for your style if you want it lower.
